Edge of Technological Ignorance

— Edge of Technological Ignorance – The World Today —

We are growing closer to the singularity, but we don’t know what the singularity is, or what it envelops. We are ignorant of that eventuality…. or wrong, if we think that we know all that it entails.

We are on the edge of technological ignorance, and we don’t see the bottom. If we were gods, then we would fly off that edge without fear, but we are still human.

Going off that edge, will be, surely death.

The fear of Artificial Intelligence was expressed by scientists last year, but I knew of the singularity a long time ago. When I was watching Arnold fist say “I’ll be back” in the first Terminator movie. That movie, was the first I saw with AI taking over the world, at least in my imagination.

We lived in fear ever since then, but pride made us blind. We were complacent in our exponential growth of tech toys that made our lives easier. I’m probably the most complacent one. I buy everything I can, but I’m a humble consumer. I’m more ashamed of what we do to get those tech toys.

Ripoff nations that have the resources and materials in abundance. We hire them for pennies on the dollar, and make them work extremely long hours. That we would classify it as abuse, here in the US. We found it as an abundance of cheap labor on the other side of the world.

3D Printing : Subtractive and Additive

Some Asian nations that excel in the technological manufacturing of the parts, and last year South America was giving them competition in the technological manufacturing field.  There is talk of 3D printing being done on a massive scale, that it talks of machines rebuilding our futures.

I dread the tech world growing stronger, with the profits as bait on a fishing line leading the way toward the edge of cliff. One wrong step, it will be too late.

Technological Ignorance/Wisdom

I remember reading the 1984 by George Orwell and he stated “War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength;”. In the classic double speak language, and it left me wondering of the technological marvels of today. We are making a nation of idiots led by their impulses to consume the new fad or trend.

The cheerleaders are the tech companies looking to sell you an overused technology. They keep having to change the name of the technology, so that it seems new. Generations of the same technology, they sell with a new name. It’s a neverending con job to supply a living for the ignorant, with the same tech, with a new name.

It gives them strength, conning the ignorant.

“War is peace”, anyone who believes that is a fool. War is destruction, we need peace to rebuild what was destroyed. Also, war is peace is self destructing principle.

“Freedom is Slavery”, means to me that we consume beyond our means into debt. Debt is the chains that bind us, making us slaves to no end.

“Ignorance is strength”, I replace strength with wisdom. Wisdom is strength against the reality of the world. Technological marvels are what we face everyday, and they make us feel dumb and dumber. Unless you’re willing to learn about it, and the terminologies they use to mask it, or camouflage it.

The Technological Ignorance of Power is our Downfall

I‘ll start off with this quote by Carl Sagan talking about nuclear deterrents:

  • “Imagine, a room, awash in gasoline. And there are two implacable enemies in that room. One of them has 9,000 matches. The other has 7,000 matches. Each of them is concerned about who’s ahead, who’s stronger. Well, that’s the kind of situation we are actually in. The amount of weapons that are available to the United States and the Soviet Union are so bloated, so grossly in excess of what’s needed to dissuade the other that if it weren’t so tragic, it would be laughable.”

Nuclear deterrents don’t work much like, Sanctions don’t Work

There are many more nuclear countries, which is a simple solution… don’t blow things up. That should go unsaid.

Mankind is celebrating by blowing things up, as a form of peace. Delusions to bring a stable reality. That logic is the logic of an idiot. Their delusions are justified with deaths galore.

The victors win and rewrite history to their liking, and puts them in a positive light. History being rewritten, by the losers of wars, would be more just.
That would put everyone in a positive light. We could have the darkness to accent the light, and bring out the details with contrast of shading. We don’t need to strike a match out of fear, the thought of striking the match is enough.

I believed that once I could blow up the world by thought… like an atom bomb. It was at the end of the 1970’s, I though about this more than usual. It was at the time before Regan took office as the President. I ended up blowing up the world, to make a long story short.

So I only though about it, I didn’t have the power to do it. The way the world works today with Military industrial Complex starting wars for the sake of profits, not defense, I wonder how long it will last, before the President or some other nation’s leader will fantasize of blowing up the gasoline washed room called Earth.

Technological Ignorance could be our End, or our new Beginning

The technological ignorance is waiting to blow up in our faces… Carl Sagan had a quote about that too:

  • We’ve arranged a global civilization in which the most crucial elements — transportation, communications, and all other industries; agriculture, medicine, education, entertainment, protecting the environment; and even the key democratic institution of voting, profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.

― Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

Don’t play with matches, or you’ll burn down our house. It could light a candle that we see everything around, or burn down our house. It’s what you choose… choose well.
