Caamp – So Long Honey

I woke to a live version of this song, I fell asleep with the Youtube Playlist Acoustic #8 playing, and woke up with Caamp playing a live song during a Gaslight session of “So Long, Honey“.

I just remember Cherry Ghost playing the song “People Help the People”… I must’ve fell asleep before the next song “Lucky Man” by ELP, cause I don’t remember hearing that… and then I woke up hearing “So Long Honey”.

The first Verse, is what I didn’t understand, so I wanted the Lyrics… I searched the Lyrics on Youtube, and no one made a lyrical version of it.
Well, I searched Google for the lyrics of the song… I figured there must be a reason I woke up to that song.

Caamp – So Long, Honey
(Lyrics)

We sit with the fools and the sinners
The jokers and the killer
It’s just our way
Toss a rock, and you break a window
And toss a feather up
And watch the wind blow it away

And you can float on the wind for so long
Someday, honey, you’ve got to come back down
And when you do, I’ll be hangin’ around

It smells like smoke in here
And the piano doesn’t play
It never did
And there’s this feeling I get
When you’re in the room
I want you to stay

And you can float on the wind for so long
Someday, honey, you’ve got to come back down
And when you do, I’ll be hangin’ around

And you can float on the wind for so long
Someday, honey, you’ve got to come back down
And when you do, I’ll be hangin’ around

Be good to your mothers
Oh, they did the best they could
And bleed for your brothers
‘Cause Lord knows that they would

and be good to your mothers
(Ooh) oh, they did the best they could
(Ooh) and you better bleed for your brothers
(Ooh) ’cause Lord knows that they would

Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh

I spent the rest of the morning reliving the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s music the growing years of my musical education in the school of hard knocks… along with memories of the Forrest Gump movie.

It had the feather in the wind in the opening and closing credits… and the song had that imagery in the lyrics.

It brought back memories, some bad and some good, but it was a good awakening, to the day ahead.

I have to get up, and change the bandage on my ass… it’s been there, since the pandemic started, and I’ve been in and out of hospitals… there is no healing in hospitals anymore… the love is gone.
It’s all about profits now… you pay an exorbitant amount of cash… to buy a little time before death.

We’re all gonna die anyway… so I’d like to die the way I want… it’s my transition to sleep/death, and I don’t want to be chained to hospital bed, with profit chains attached.

I want my freedom, however illusionary it is… it’s my delusion that gives me peace…it’s like my blanket I want to hold with the word FREEDOM on it.

I came into this world alone, and I’m going out of it alone… I can always hope, that I’ll find my soulmate, but if I don’t… then that’s life… C’est La Vie.
I came in poor Richard, and I’ll leave Rich… Tomidjah.
