— Antibiotic Resistance —
I saw this, this morning, Frontline‘s piece of rise of antibiotic resistance tied to the agricultural business, the antibiotics they feed them also make them fatter, and the marketing bonanza of this practice was undercover to the public for years, probably decades.
The practices of antibiotics in the agricultural business doesn’t explain the rise the resistance of these newly formed drugs, though it raises more suspicions of why.
Penicillin was discovered in 1943 in America, and 1941 in the UK, and became resistant to it by 1945, so antibiotics have a shelf life, and isn’t permanent. I mean I’ve leaned a lot in the science lesson I had this morning, this illusion of a secret magic pill to cure all your ills, is just that, an illusion.
We have to come up with a new drug, to counteract with the new bacteria that rose from the transformation of the last drug we chose to fight it with. We are like Mad Scientists that we portray as insane, but we sanctify them as doing good.
With our abuse of the use of antibiotics, we want a pill to cure the ill, and don’t look for an understanding or appreciate the cure. Grace is misplaced in the process of haste… you know the haste makes waste cliche, well that cliche is made evident in this talk about antibiotics.
Antibiotics has been around for less than a century, it’s a new science... though it’s been around for all my life, I never knew about the history of antibiotics, before this morning.
The more I learn, the more I realize, the more I don’t know… it was said by someone else, who I can’t remember…heck I’ll google it.
“The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.” — Albert Einstein
Which he was influenced by Socrates discussing their ignorance of the mysteries of life.
The meaning of life is a bit drastic, in fact it leads me further and further into the woods of indifference and abandons me, so that I feel lost too.
Maybe this piece shatters the illusion of the mystery of the medical field, which I have been a subject to most of my life. The mastery of mystery called the Medical field… it’s a mystery that doctors have the honor of serving and exploring the human body, and further learning about the mystery, called the human.
The theory of the con man to awe you with one hand and do the magic with the other hand… the mystery of the con, is not magic, it’s concealed logic… trickery.
Doctors play that role, be it some are good doctors, but there are many who are not, they follow the $$$ with stars in their eyes. The percentages are always changing, but there are good doctors out there.
I’m not so bleak on all the videos that I watched today, I see a positive path, not so much a dark path, but a well lighted path… like a garden that you like to smell the flowers of.
I thought of antibiotics as a magic pill before this morning, but now I see it as an avenue in the city of Good Health, there are many other roads in that city, the roads called Dietary blvd., Homeopathic highway, Organic bypass, and StressFree Street.
In the words of Hippocrates one of the first doctors of medicine, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”, so I’ll let food be my medicine, I’ll take the pill when I need it, but I’ll try and find the many roads around the city of Good Health, as I can.
